Lots of children know the song “Old McDonald Had a Farm” but have you or your child ever experienced the fun of a working farm? Here in Pierce County, Wilcox Farm is a great place for children of all ages to see first hand the daily running of a state of the art chicken egg farm.  At Wilcox Farm you can see free range chickens and watch the egg collecting, washing and packaging processes from start to finish. The farm also has historic buildings and equipment in a museum and don’t miss the petting zoo.  Before you leave, stop by the in-house store and get your ‘day on the farm’ fresh eggs!

In addition to eggs, the farm also has a nature trail that is open year round and free to visitors.  The Trail is well-kept and highlighted with fun and educational kiosks. You might even see wild salmon spawning [three times a year].

Be sure to include Wilcox Farm on your list of FUN things to do this summer!

For more tour information visit them online.   Minimum group size required, please contact Wilcox in advance.

Recently I went out to see a play in the Theater District and I was reminded of how wonderful a community theater is.  It was so great to see the creative stage scenery, the wonderfully thought out costumes and the brilliant acting.  In Pierce County, there are many theaters to choose from including Lakewood Playhouse and the Tacoma Musical Playhouse to name a few.  This session you can see great plays such as In to the Woods, Once in a Lifetime,  Footloose and The Wizard of OZ.  Make sure to mark you calendar to take a night out on the town and enjoy the dazzling Broadway experience inside your own community.

Walking down Pacific Ave in Downtown Tacoma, I am amazed by all of the progress that has happened in such a short time, and how far Tacoma has come.  Seeing all the new developments is such a pleasure.  From the beautiful new Hotel Murano façade to the Chihuly glass installations at Union Station and the Bridge of Glass, you can feel the care and creativity that has gone into growing our city.  The hustle and bustle of the Museum District shows how alive the city is and transforms the historic streets into a happening place to be. You can take your time to explore everything at your leisure and with many dining options available you have a wide range of flavors to stimulate your palate for lunch or dinner.

Do you have a favorite spot in downtown Tacoma?
